At Leap, we specialise in compassionate, neuro affirming autism assessments for adults across the North West, and beyond. Whether you’re seeking clarity, self understanding, or simply exploring the possibility of a diagnosis, we are ready to help.

Our nurse led team understands that every journey is different. That’s why our process is clear, compassionate, and tailored to your needs. We take time to listen, explain, and support, without jargon or judgement.

Being a private practice means that we do not operate with a waiting list. We can usually see you within 4 weeks from enquiry.

Full assessment

£1600

This includes

  • Pre-assessment questionnaire

  • In-depth clinical interview using two NICE gold standard tools

  • Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R) A structured developmental history tool, often used with a parent or informant

  • Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) A semi-structured, interactive assessment that explores communication, social interaction, and behaviour

  • Full diagnostic formulation and written report

  • 30 minute feedback appointment/call

  • GP letter if a diagnosis is given, and/or a letter to your employer or educational establishment to offer advice on reasonable adjustments.

This package offers a robust, multi-method approach. The ADOS-2 assessment is carried out in person by two clinicians in our clinic space in Burscough. The ADI-R portion of the assessment can be completed online or in person.

We offer a 15% discount for NHS staff, carers, students, and parents on maternity/paternity leave. Other discretionary discounts may be available. Please contact us to discuss eligibility.

ADI-R assessment

£1050

We also offer an ‘ADI-R only’ assessment. Although an ADI-R alone can only provide a ‘working’ diagnosis, it is useful for exploring your social, communication and sensory profile and would be beneficial for clients wishing to learn more about themselves, and gain informal support at work or in education.

This includes:

  • Pre-assessment questionnaire

  • In-depth clinical interview

  • Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R) A structured developmental history tool, often used with a parent or informant

  • Full written report

  • 30 minute feedback appointment/call

  • A letter to your employer or educational establishment to offer advice on reasonable adjustments.

About Leap

Close-up of a smiling woman with glasses and earrings

Leap was set up by Jessica Lea, a registered learning disability nurse with almost 20 years experience in all things autism. Alongside her work as clinical director of Leap, Jess also works full time as a community learning disability nurse in the NHS, a role which brings her great joy and pride. Jess also has lived experience of autism, having gone through the assessment process herself in 2021. Using her professional skills, and lived experience, Leap was born out of a desire to provide compassionate, person centered, and neuro affirming autism assessments to adults in the north west and beyond.

Although Leap is a ‘one woman operation’, Jess works alongside other professionals to form the MDT side of all clinical decisions, so no diagnosis is ever made in isolation, meaning that all diagnoses are in line with NICE guidance and clinical ethics.

Leap is not affiliated with the NHS or any NHS trust. Our conflict of interest policy (along with all other policies) can be found at the link at the bottom of the page.
